VietNamNet Bridge – Publisher First News has announced it was compensated with VND700 million by American International School of Foreign Language Training in Hanoi for reprinting English language books that First News has been given exclusive rights to copy in Vietnam by a foreign publisher.

Initially, First News filed a lawsuit against the school for violating copyright of foreign language teaching books and CDs that First News was granted license to republish in Vietnam.

Ultimately, the school representative talked with the publisher and agreed to pay a compensation of VND 700 million and asked the publisher to cancel the lawsuit case.

The school will VND 220 million cash and the remaining will pay under scholarships

The publisher said that it would grant the scholarships to disadvantaged students in the capital city.

This is the first time First News that owned by cultural product trade company Tri Viet won a lawsuit against book copyright infringement and its third victory in copyright cases.
