The Emir of the State of Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, will pay an official visit to Vietnam on January 16-17, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The visit is made at the invitation of Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang, said a Foreign Ministry communique on January 12.
This is the top level visit to Vietnam by a Qatar leader after the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1993.

During the visit, both sides will discuss measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in politics-diplomacy, economics, infrastructure development, and education-training.

They will also exchange regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The Emir is scheduled to hold talks with President Sang, meet with other senior Vietnamese leaders, attend a joint Vietnam-Qatar business forum and visit several economic and cultural centres in Hanoi.
