Quan took 3hr 20min to complete the 130km stage from Da Nang to Quang Ngai City after a successful break-away near the start.

As part of a group of four to leave the pack behind at the 30km mark, Quan took a lead of about 2 seconds.

Quan's short sprint during last stretch of the race saw him win his first stage in the tourney. Nguyen Van Quang of Ha Noi and Dang Thanh Thai of Dong Thap were second and third, respectively.

Tran Thanh Dien of Sai Gon Plant Protection kept his yellow jersey with a time of 24:54.20. Teammate Le Ngoc Thanh and Military Zone 7's Huynh Thanh Tung were closed behind.

Green jersey holder Le Van Duan of HCM City Eximbank strengthened his position after winning two sprints, pocketing 76 points.

An Giang Plant Protection led the team event, with a time of 74:46.01 after nine stages. Military Zone 7 and Sai Gon are close behind.

The 10th stage today will see cyclists racing from Quang Ngai to Quy Nhon in a 179km-long stage.
