The incident took place on April 7, when the six boats coded Qiongdan-yu 17318, 05259, 05029, 05088, 12023 and 05018 were detected to be fishing in Quang Binh’s waters about 19 nautical miles off its Nhat Le shore and 19 nautical miles to the west of the demarcation line of the two countries’ Common Fishery Zone.

The provincial border guard force approached and inspected the violating boats, which had 28 fishermen aboard without any personal papers.

They were given a warning and requested to immediately withdraw from Vietnamese waters.
