Liem finishes second at Dortmund Chess Meeting

The event will attract 128 chess players from 46 countries.
The Vietnam Chess Federation’s general secretary Luong Trong Minh said the federation would spend US$8,000 to hire a qualified coach to help Liem during the 3-week tournament in Khanty Mansiysk.
In two previous years, Liem got eliminated in the opening round.
At last week’s Sparkassen Chess Meeting in Germany, Liem finished second out of 6 world-class competitors.
Top chess player to employ foreign coach
Vietnamese grandmaster Le Quang Liem needs a professional foreign coach to help him develop to a new level, said Luong Trong Minh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Chess Federation (VCF).
The General Department for Sports and Physical Training has pledged to provide partial financial support to hire a foreign trainer for Liem, while the VCF will also cover part of the cost for the player’s new coach.
Liem is making thorough preparations for the upcoming World Chess Championships, scheduled for Russia at the end of this month.
