VietNamNet Bridge – In the third day of the International HDBank Chess Cup in HCM City, the top seed Le Quang Liem had the first losing game while international grand master Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (photo) gained an important victory to rank third.

Being defeated by Gomez John Paul (Philippines), Quang Liem had only 3.5 points and fell from the second to the fourth position after five games. Paul ranks first with five winning games.

 

Chinese player Yu Yangyi ranks the second, with 4.5 pints.

 

Truong Son, after getting a draw with Pham Le Thao Nguyen and another draw with Nguyen Van Huy, had two consecutive winning matches, ranking third, with 4 points.

 

The remaining Vietnamese players like Mai Hung, Anh Dung and Thien Hai had good start but in the end fell in the ranking.

 

Experts said that Vietnamese players Truong Son and Quang Liem still have opportunities to compete for the championship.

 

The week-long tournament has attracted 30 Vietnamese players and 35 others from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand and Ukraine.
