Bao is no longer a representative for the department participating in any council, steering committee or consultation group established by the province People’s Committee, according to another decision of Thu.

Bao, born in 1985, graduated from Da Nang Economics University with a degree in finance. He trained for a two-year master’s programme at Claremont Graduate University in the US in 2010, using State funds. After returning to Vietnam, he led the investment promotion unit at the Chu Lai Economic Zone in Quang Nam until March 2014.

He was then voted deputy chairman of Thăng Bình District People’s Committee. After a year, he became deputy head of the province’s Department of Planning and Investment. Six months later, in September, 2015, he was promoted to director of the province’s Planning and Investment department, making him the youngest person to hold the position.

Bao is also known as a son of former Party Secretary of the province’s Party Committee, Le Phuoc Thanh.

On February 13, the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board abolished Bao’s Party membership.

In January, the Inspection Commission of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, the Party’s top watchdog, found that Bao had been dishonest about past working experience in his personal dossier and CV when he was nominated for a seat in the provincial Party Committee for the 2015-20 period. The Commission concluded that Bao had poor sense of discipline and violated the Party’s regulations for not taking part in any Party activities for many months during his time studying abroad.
