Artists and local children painted a boatLocal authorities in Quang Nam Province's Tam Thanh Commune are cooperating with artists from Singapore in an ecotourism project which aims to introduce local life and culture to visitors.

Many artists and local people have been joining in the project which includes painting work on some 60 round basket boats.

According to local authorities, the boats were gathered by local fishermen who can also join in the painting featuring natural landscapes and daily life activities of local people.

The boats will be displayed along a road leading to the commune which is expected to become a new tourist attraction in the area.

The ecotourism project also included activities to build a flower village, a village without trash in this fishing community.

Last June, Trung Thanh Village in Tam Thanh Commune was chosen for an art project as part of the Korea Foundation Community Art Exchange Programme held by the Korea Foundation and UN-Habitat Vietnam to improve living conditions and introduce more art to the public.

Five artists from the South Korea, 12 volunteers and many Vietnamese students have given the walls of about 100 houses a new face with colourful paintings.
