VietNamNet Bridge - A fierce fire occurred at a central market in Quang Ngai City at 6am on February 9.

Some traders detected the flames at 4am and called in firemen.

As the fire continued spreading the local fire fighters had to mobilise dozens of fire-trucks from Dung Quat Economic Zone to join with their seven engines in rescue efforts.

The Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee, Vo Van Thuong, came on the scene to direct firefighting.

The rescue workers found it difficult to control the fire as a lot of kiosks were in a poor state of repair with rubble standing in the way.

It is estimated that the total losses may reach over VND200 billion ($10 million).
