VietNamNet Bridge - In order to enhance the effectiveness of anti-corruption tasks, the Department of Internal Affairs of the Party Committee of Quang Ngai province will pay up to VND10 million (nearly $500) to anyone offering corruption-related information and evidence.

This is the third province in Vietnam applying this policy.

Accordingly, whistleblowers at home and abroad can provide documents and evidence concerning acts of corruption in Quang Ngai directly or indirectly to the Department of Internal Affairs Committee by e-mail, fax, or phone (055.3821237 and 0913428304).

Based on the nature of each case and the quality of information, the Department of Internal Affairs will pay from VND500,000 ($25) to VND10 million ($500) for each case. Privacy of the provider will be absolutely guaranteed.

"This policy is issued to establish a reliable address for people to fight against corruption more effectively," said Mr. Vo Thai Nguyen, Head of the Internal Affairs Department of Quang Ngai province.

According to statistics of the Quang Ngai Party Committee, in the past two years the province has detected and punished 113 Party members and three party organizations for violating the law on corruption.

In June and July, Lam Dong and Yen Bai provinces also published regulations on the purchase of information for the prevention of corruption.
