In the game against Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) at the Cam Pha Stadium, Quang Ninh province, striker Alan Bruno competed for the ball with HAGL’s midfielder Vu Anh Tuan. Bruno’s kick was powerful so Anh Tuan jumped up to avoid the kick.

Bruno’s one foot hit against Anh Tuan and the remaining foot slipped on the ground and was weighed down by the body, making the fibula break. The striker was taken to the Cam Pha Hospital. He was then transferred to a hospital in Hanoi.

Head of Quang Ninh Coal FC – Mr. Nguyen Khac Tiep said: "Because he (Bruno) is a foreigner, without any relatives here, we have to take care of him very carefully until he recovers."

However, Tiep said that Bruno almost lost the chance to pursue a professional football career because of the serious wounds.

"The ankles of football players have many ligaments. Bruno’s ankle was slanted out of the joint, so he nearly lost the chance to play football again," said Mr. Dong Xuan Lam, a doctor from the Vietnam Sports Hospital:

According to some players who visited Bruno at hospital, the Brazilian striker was very much in pain and sad.

In his recent four games for Quang Ninh Coal, he did not score any goal so he was determined to prove ability, and his strong kick against Vu Anh Tuan resulted from that effort. This is the first year of Bruno in Vietnam.
