VietNamNet Bridge – Five men broke a tomb to steal the skull of the dead then leaving an announcement asking for ransom of VND300 million ($15,000).

The police of Quang Ninh province have arrested five men in the town of Mao Khe, Dong Trieu district, Quang Ninh province, for their inhuman act. These people are defined to be the culprits in the above-mentioned case.

The case was detected by the family of Mr. Nguyen Hong Quan,46, in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh early on December 16, 2012, when they visited the grave of Mrs. Dinh Thi S. (1943-2007, Quan’s mother). At that time, the grave was dug up and the coffin was opened.

Checking the coffin, the family found out that the skull of the deceased was stolen. The thieves recklessly left a paper, asking for VND300 million as ransom for the skull, with their phone number.

Shortly after discovering the incident, Mr. Quan's family reported to the police. Quang Ninh provincial police urgently investigated the case.

On March 12, the police arrested five people and seized the skull to return to the victim’s family.
