Quang Ninh plans to develop night-time economy

The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh was among 10 localities to pilot the night-time economy model before being applied on a larger scale. After that, Quang Ninh set up a taskforce in charge of building a project on the night-time economy.

Accordingly, its most outstanding feature is the ‘tourism boat night street’ along both sides of the Ha Long international tourist wharf, which was launched this summer.

Operating from 5 pm to 11 pm daily, 30 tourist boats provide 4-hour journeys on the bay, during which tourists can admire Ha Long at night. Tourists can also enjoy high-end services on the boats such as parties, music performance, and bars, as well as have attractive experiences such as fishing for cuttlefish and admiring Ha Long bay at night.

The food street within the grounds of Sun Carnival Square in Ha Long City is a new night-time area. Many restaurants provide fresh seafood, beer, fast food and coffee, which are open from 4 pm to midnight every day.

Visitors can taste the special cuisines of all areas of Vietnam, Asian and European food, enjoy performances of water music, water drums, electronic music, and contemporary art performed by famous singers and artists, as well as street art programs and folk games.

Besides the pedestrian streets of Bai Chay (Ha Long) and Mong Cai, Quang Ninh has inaugurated Cam Pha and Co To walking streets, which offer tourists bustling and interesting night activities. The streets are equipped with all modern facilities, including free wifi, cameras and toilet systems.

Quang Ninh has piloted projects in specific areas far from residential quarters to ensure that night-time entertainment complexes are separate, such as Tuan Chau International Tourism Complex and Yen Tu Tourism Complex.

The province will focus on attracting business facilities, investors and institutions to invest. It will ask the central government to remove regulations that are obstacles to night-time economy development, such as the time frame. Also, investors should be given investment incentives by supporting repair and upgrading to ensure service quality.
