The central province of Quang Tri has 7 districts that are priotized for the implementation of the program on developing trade in mountainous, remote and island areas for the period of 2021 – 2025, which was approved by the Prime Minister.
Quang Tri, located in the center of the northern part of Vietnam’s central region, is Vietnam's "bridgehead" location on the East-West Economic Corridor. With that important geopolitical and geo-economic position, Quang Tri has favorable conditions for economic development and trade connection with other regions of Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries.
The central province of Quang Tri has 7 districts that are priotized for the implementation of the program on developing trade in mountainous, remote and island areas for the period of 2021 – 2025, which was approved by the Prime Minister. The districts include: Dakrong, Huong Tri Hoa, Vinh Linh, Con Co island, Gio Linh, Hai Lang and Trieu Phong.
According to the Trade Development Program in mountainous, remote and island areas for the period 2021 - 2025 approved by the Prime Minister, Quang Tri province has 7 priority districts for implementing the Program including: districts.
In these districts, the authorities of Quang Tri province have focused on developing organic agriculture, clean agriculture, and building areas specializing in organic rice cultivation.
Many key agricultural products of Quang Tri have been granted certificates and labels such as the geographical indications for Quang Tri pepper and Quang Tri green tea; collective trademarks for K4 Hai Phu oranges, Khe Sanh coffee, Hai Lang clean rice, Vinh Linh nem trees, Hai Lang nem trees, Vinh Linh taro, Huong Hoa banana, Dong Ha vegetables, Vinh Tu watermelon; organic certification for Vinh Linh pepper, Gio An pepper, Trieu Phong rice; OCOP certification for Trieu Phong rice, Cua pepper, An Xuan Solanum procumbens.
With the goal of improving the value of agricultural production and creating many high-quality products with the characteristics and advantages of each region, Quang Tri province has focused on building the OCOP program.
By November 2023, Quang Tri province had 113 OCOP products, including 42 products of 4 star standards, 71 products of 3 star standards. The province strives to have 100 more OCOP products by the end of 2025, including 1 to 3 five-star products, 15 to 20 four-star products, and 1 to 2 OCOP products that are community-based tourism products. By 2030, there will be 100 more OCOP products, raising the total number of 5-star OCOP products in the province from 5 to 7 products.
As of November 2023, Quang Tri province has 113 OCOP products, of which 42 products achieve 4 stars, 71 products achieve 3 stars. Quang Tri province strives to have 100 more OCOP products by the end of 2025, including 1 to 3 5-star products, 15 to 20 4-star products, and 1 to 2 OCOP products that are community tourism products; By 2030, there will be 100 more OCOP products, which will increase the total number of 5-star OCOP products in the province from 5 to 7 products.
To promote the consumption of typical local products and OCOP products, Quang Tri province has stepped up trade promotion work and actively participated in activities connecting supply and demand to seek new product distributors.
In the coming time, Quang Tri province will continue to encourage the development of high-tech agriculture and organic agriculture, promoting links in production and consumption of agricultural products in the area.
In addition, it will focus on building brands for key products, creating competitive advantages in the market; attaching importance to traceability, issuance of planting area codes, e-commerce... so that agricultural products are more widely accessible and promoted in domestic and international markets.
