About 1,000 artists from several Southeast Asian countries will perform at a festival in Dong Ha City in the central Quang Tri Province from July 18 to 25.
Culture Centre in central province of Quang Tri will host regional art festival from July 18 to 25.
Artists from 17 Vietnamese art troupes will also participate, such as the Hanoi-based Thang Long Music, Dance and Song Theatre and local theatres from the northern, central and southern areas of Vietnam.
Four foreign art troupes that are participating are the Art Troupe from the Kingdom of Cambodia, Laos National Art Troupe, Myanmar Art Troupe and Thailand Art Troupe.
About 220 repertoires will be performed at the festival, featuring traditional cultural characters of each participating country.
It will also be a chance for the artists to share and exchange their performance experiences.
The festival is being jointly organised by the provincial department of culture, sports and tourism, the International Co-operation Department and the Vietnam Dancers’ Association, besides the Vietnam Composers’ Association.
It aims to strengthen friendship and co-operation among ASEAN member countries and giving Vietnam an opportunity to popularise its art, land and people in the neighbouring countries.
The five best repertoires will be chosen to perform for the public at the province.
The festival follows several successful events that were held in the province in previous years, such as the Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam Art Festival and the Trans–Asia Road and Indochinese Music Festival.
The Quang Tri festival will begin at 8pm at Culture Centre, No1A Hung Vuong Street on July 18.
