The schedule has seen Chien and Vinh seeded in Group E and Group G, respectively, in the Round of 32.

Chien, who is placed fifth in the rankings of the World Union of Billiards (UMB), will in the same group as Kim Jun-tae of the RoK, who ranks in 12th position.

Furthermore, Phuong Vinh, world No.11, has been placed in the same group as Eddy Merckx of Belgium, world No.6.

Chien is widely regard as one of the nation’s leading hopes going into the tournament. If the country’s top cueist is able to win the competition, then he will have the chance to grab top place in the world. Currently, Chien ranks fifth with 331 points, 27 points lower than the No.1-placed Korean player Cho Myung-woo.

Elsewhere, other Vietnamese players, including Dao Van Ly, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Nguyen Van Tri, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Do Nguyen Trung Hau, Chien Hong Thai, and Tran Thanh Luc, will have to compete in the second, third, and fourth qualifying rounds of the tournament to earn their places into the Round of 32.
