Despite facing a number of initial challenges posed by the Ecuadorian opponent, who currently ranks at world No.34, Quyet Chien, world No.4, was able to quickly show his talent and took a lead of 24-16 after six innings.
Following the break, Chien continued to earn a further 16 points to win the game with a final score of 40-19 in nine innings.
This marks the second time that Chien has made it into the quarterfinal round at the World Games. Back in 2017, the local cueist was defeated by Sameh Sidhom of Egypt in the quarterfinal round.
Moving forward, Chien will play his next game against Jose Juan Garcia of Colombia, who ranks 23rd in the world rankings.
The World Games is an international multi-sport event which features sports that are not contested in the Olympics. The event is hosted every four years and usually takes place one year after the Summer Olympics.
