VietNamNet Bridge – Yesterday, September 9, the Saigon railway station put into use a free wifi system, which help passengers easily access to the Internet, search for information while waiting for the train and their relatives.

In addition, passengers to the Saigon railway station can also use wifi to book tickets for the upcoming Tet holiday.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Saigon railway station’s chief said free wifi will be also available at other major railway stations in Vietnam such as Nha Trang, Dieu Tri and Da Nang. The result will be considered before the free wifi service is provided at other railway stations in the country.

This wireless system is designed by the New Generation Open Source Technology Company, with average broadband Internet access of 2Mbps per person and it can serve 800 people at the same time.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tien, the company’s director, said that the total investment cost for the four above stations is VND1.4 billion ($70,000) and the company’s investment will be compensated through advertising at railway stations.
