A taxi driver died because of a fallen tree and two others died in a kayak accident, and many trees and vehicles were struck down by strong winds.

According to the Hanoi Meteorological Station, at 6pm yesterday, the strongest winds were measured at 60-72 km per hour, equivalent to a level-8 storm.

The gust blew off many signboards and roofs, pulled down trees and knocked down cyclists and motorcycle drivers. Many motorcycles and roadside furniture were also thrown down. The city traffic was disturbed.

On Hung Vuong Road, an old tree fell on a moving taxi, killing the driver on the spot and injuring two passengers.

Also, in the rainstorm, a kayak capsized on West Lake. One rower in the kayak died, and another is missing.

In the districts of Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Tay Ho and Dong Anh, the rainfall measured 40mm to 79mm, causing flooding in some roads.
