Update news rang dong fire
The serious fire at Rang Dong’s factory and the resulting environmental and health hazards in the areas has once again brought the removal of hundreds of polluting factories from the capital to the agenda.
The level of mercury found in various samples collected in the vicinity of a destroyed light bulb factory in a densely-populated area of Hanoi has been deemed safe to human health, VN Environment Administration said yesterday.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has proposed factories, including Rang Dong Light Source and Vacuum Flask JSC’s facility make plans to relocate, away from residential areas to avoid similar incidents.
The Rang Dong JSC has said it no longer uses mercury and other toxic chemicals in it products, clearing concerns over possible contamination after the fire at its light bulb warehouse on Wednesday.
