The Hanoi municipal People’s Committee has instructed relevant sectors and agencies to organise a string of activities throughout the city in celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Accordingly, two communications events will be held on the evenings of August 29 and 30 in the districts of Quoc Oai and Thanh Tri.

Meanwhile, cultural events and arts performances will be staged in Long Bien, Ha Dong, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Oai and Ung Hoa districts to entertain local residents.

There will also be exhibitions, displays and talks shedding light on the historic August Revolution and President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle.

On the occasion, the Hanoi August Old Book Fair is taking place at the Culture and Arts Exhibition Centre between August 16 and 19. The highlight of the fair will be a display of books and newspapers published in 1946 featuring the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

Booklovers are able to find rare materials such as an edition of Su That (Truth) newspaper from August 16, 1946, Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper’s edition No 83 in 1949, Cuu Quoc (National Salvation)’s edition No 813 in 1949 and Nhan Dan (People)’s edition from September 2, 1952.
