VietNamNet Bridge – Recruitment demand among companies and enterprises in HCM City is not likely to increase in the first two months of this year compared to the same period last year, according to the city's Centre for Labour Market Information and Human Resource Forecasting.

At this time of the year, especially January, companies and enterprises focus on providing bonuses and other incentives in order to keep their employees working for them after Tet, said Tran Anh Tuan, deputy director of the centre.

"Workers tend to move to companies and enterprises that offer better salaries and perks if their employers do not pay attention to their bonus and allowances at this time," Tuan said.

The centre estimated that around 20 per cent of the employees of enterprises in the city would quit their jobs after Tet and find employment elsewhere, he said. This would lead to a shortage of labour around that time, he added.

The report said companies and enterprises were always looking to hire and retain high performance employees, and the latter have particularly been in demand around this time.

According to the centre, nearly 45,000 employees are needed in the city in first two months of this year. Most of the available jobs are likely to be in the textile, footwear, construction, mechanics, and electrical and electronics industries.
