In the second stage from Can Tho to Rach Gia, with the distance of 216 km, on December 18, Hung came first and won the yellow jersey. Huang En, from Max Success Club of China came in second and recognized ranked second with the time gap of only one second.

Hung, a cyclist of the HCM City Eximbank club continued to win the yellow jersey in the third stage Can Tho - Soc Trang City - Can Tho City on December 19.

Unexpectedly, on the night of December 19, the referee board, under the supervision of the general referee N.Kulunaratna from Sri Lanka, suddenly changed the decision. Accordingly, Hung lost his first yellow jersey because the referees "forgot" to add the bonus point (+3 seconds) for China’s Huang En, in the 2nd race.

On the morning of December 20, HCM City Eximbank was officially informed of the decision, right before the 4th race.

According to the UCI’s regulations, teams have the right to lodge complaints 15 minutes after the referees announce the results. But Vietnamese referees were not used to with the UCI standards so the results of referees are usually reported to the organizers, the teams and the media at 0 or to 1 am.

On December 20, after Hung lost his yellow jersey, his team submitted petition to the referee board and the organizing board.

In the 4th race of 175 km on the same day, Omiazakov Dias (Astana club of Kazakhstan) was the winner, with 4 hours, five minutes and 4 seconds.

Today, December 21, the final race from Can Tho to Ho Chi Minh City, 166 km long will take place.
