It is the first restaurant in the country to offer the service, with assistance from the National Traffic Safety Commission and Vietnam Beverage Association. This is part of the program on prevention of alcohol abuse among drivers.

Speaking at the launching ceremony on February 8, vice chief of the National Traffic Safety Commission, Khuat Viet Hung, said that last lunar New Year, the Vietnam-Germany Hospital in Hanoi admitted more than 60 victims of traffic accidents a day and over 40 of them were related to alcohol use. Many people suffered from brain injuries.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Viet, President of the Vietnam Beverage Association, said the association would promote this program to beverage manufacturers in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Commission.

According to the restaurant’s representative, drinkers will be taken home by motorbike or by taxi. The restaurant staff will also encourage drivers to not drink alcohol and beer.
