Lieutenant General Daniel Paul Leaf has been appointed honorry consul of Vietnam in Honolulu, Hawaii.

A decision to this effect was signed by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on July 18, and was recently announced by the Embassy of Vietnam in the US.

Lieutenant General Daniel Paul Leaf has made practical contributions to promoting the comprehensive partnership and now the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the US, according to the announcement.

After being approved by the US Department of State, the Vietnamese Honorary Consulate in Honolulu, Hawaii, headed by Lieutenant General Daniel Paul Leaf has officially come into operation. The retired general is the first Honorary Consul of Vietnam to the US.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung thanked the US Department of State and relevant agenciess, congratulated Lieutenant General Leaf and wished him a successful term.
