For the first time the event will include the participation of cyclists aged 16-22.
About 63 cyclists from eight domestic teams and one foreign team will compete over 11 stages, covering 939km, through 11 provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta, including Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang.
They will begin at Ngoc Island in Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province and finish at Long Xuyen City in An Giang Province on May 19.
The eight-day event has a total cash prize of VND600 million (US$26,000).
“After 23 years, the event is growing stronger. This year, the tournament will be open for U22 cyclists. This is a good sign, as we need to invest in and develop young cyclists for Vietnam’s professional cycling,” said Ngo Quang Vinh, deputy chairman of the Viet Nam Cycling and Motor Sport Federation.
The tournament is being jointly hosted by the Viet Nam Cycling and Motor Sport Federation and Loc Troi Group.
