VietNamNet Bridge – Fighting corruption, eliminating interest groups, being determined to prevent the decline of ideology, ethics and lifestyle of a part of party members are the statements emphasized by the leaders of the Party and the State of Vietnam in 2012. VietNamNet makes a review of the most outstanding statements.

Addressing the opening session of the Party Central Committee’s 4th meeting, Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong transmitted a frankly message that was warmly supported by the people, that is "regulating the Party for the survival of the regime." The Party Central Committee chose the three tasks to urgently handle: stopping and rolling back the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle of a small part of cadres and Party members, especially officials at all levels.
After more than half of a year implementing “criticism and self-criticism” under the spirit of Resolution 4, nobody was being punished, resulted in the doubt of many people of the effectiveness of this resolution.
Meeting with Hanoi’s voters after the last session of the National Assembly, Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong explained the purpose and results of the “criticism and self-criticism” movement within the Party. Accordingly, the recent “self-criticism” program is only the first move in the process to purify the apparatus, like making a fire in an oven.
"Having dry wood, fresh wood and moderate firewood, but the most important is to burn up the fireplace. At that time, dry wood or fresh wood will have to burn. We have to be unanimous to burn the fireplace up," he said.
The “criticism and self-criticism” in the Party cannot be implemented in the short term but also a long-term task of many years. The fireplace has been burned up and we need to keep the fire.
President Truong Tan Sang: Fighting corruption…

In meetings with HCM City’s constituents, President Truong Tan Sang regularly delivered messages about the effort to fight against corruption, and purify the state apparatus.
According to him, corruption is a serious problem. Originally, corruption is just a "part," then it develops into "not a small part", even into a group. The responsibility of the whole people is to be with the whole political system to fight corruption, not fear or avoid it.
"We understand that the corruption denouncers have to face formidable persecution. But for fear of being persecuted that we do not denounce, so how will this country be? They can persecute one person, a group of people but not the entire nation," the President said.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung: Preventing group interests
The term "interest groups" or "group interests" have been referred to a lot recently. Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong openly mentioned "group interests" in his closing remarks at the 3rd conference of the 11th Party Central Committee.
As being described in the report of the National Assembly, group interest in Vietnam is characterized by the connection to officials who have positions and power, especially the rights related to people in the fields of finance, budget, investment and land.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung was questioned by Hai Phong’s voters about the solutions to eliminate group interests to build the clean economy.
According to the PM, group interest is a group of people who have certain power and positions in collusion with each other to seek benefits for the group members, but the interest of this group is contrary to the national interest and makes adverse impacts on the legitimate interests of the majority of people.
"We are determined to prevent group interest to ensure social justice. The cooperation and partnership to help each other get rich is good, but your interests cannot be detrimental to the interests of the community," the Prime Minister said.
The Government head also confirmed the efforts to clean the engine.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung: vote of confidence…
The Congress recently passed a resolution on the vote of confidence. According to the message delivered by Hung, the vote of confidence aims to survey the opinion and the creditworthiness of the deputies of the National Assembly and the People’s Council to officials. Voting is to express their opinions on whether one official should be held or not.
If someone receives no confidence from the National Assembly, he will be dismissed and immediately replaced, he said.
The message to the voters is: the evaluation of officials will be objective, fair, based on the trust of the people, not for personal benefit.
