At around 9am, many people were drinking coffee on the sidewalk of No. 15 Hai Trieu Street when a woman approached with a petrol can in her hand.

The woman poured gas on several motorbikes on the sidewalk and set fire. Some people were frightened and fled. Some others used mini fire extinguishers to put out the flames. However, four motorcycles were burned.

The woman, identified as Thom, the owner of the Cam Chi rice restaurant on Hai Trieu Street, was seized by the police.

According to the police, Thom rented a house on Hai Trieu Street to open Cam Chi Rice Shop. Several days ago, the owner took back the house and leased it to another person since Thom did not pay the rent for several months.

On the morning of December 3, a group of workers came to repair the house to prepare for the opening of the new restaurant. Thom burned a motorbike that parked in front of that house.

However, the owner of the house insisted that they did not have conflict with Thom. They burned motorcycles belonging to customers of the owner of the nearby house, not related to the new restaurant.

Cam Chi rice restaurant was known in the Nam Cam case. In 2000, two policemen were stabbed to death here by juniors of baron Nam Cam.
