China sends four fighter aircraft to protect illegal rig
China on May 28 deployed four fight jets around the new position of its drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981, which illegally stands in Vietnam’s waters, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Fishery Surveillance Department.
China ships continue to attack Vietnamese vessels
As of May 20, China maintained the presence of more than 90 ships of various kinds defending rig HD-981, several of which kept approaching and attacking Vietnamese ships on their law enforcement missions.
