VietNamNet Bridge – Water levels in many rivers passing through the central region of Viet Nam have risen to an alarming level due to heavy rains brought in by Tropical Storm Gaemi that hit the area over the weekend.
A number of reservoirs in the central region and many of them in the Central Highlands have discharged water after it exceeded their maximum capacity.
The downpours have damaged roads and irrigation works while causing flooding in urban areas and landslides in mountainous places in Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Kon Tum.
So far, no major casualties have been recorded, as people were well prepared prior to the storm's arrival.
This is the seventh storm to hit the country this year.
