VietNamNet Bridge – One morning, officials from the People’s Committee of An Phu Ward in Binh Duong Province were surprised to find a bag containing VND100 million (US$4,300) in cash and a 3-page handwritten letter.
In the letter, the anonymous author asked the local police to return the money to a woman he had robbed.
Previously, Phan Thi Bich Tuyen, from An Giang Province, reported her bag as stolen in An Phu Ward. She said it contained VND100 million in cash and a mobile phone.
In the letter, the robber expressed his regret about his act and was shocked at how much money was in the bag. He thought about the victim for days.
He said he borrowed money from a loan shark and stole the bag after receiving threats from those collecting the debt.
He turned to theft after being left with no option.
Ashamed of his crime, he decided to send the money back to the victim with a letter asking for forgiveness.
The woman was lucky, and it’s worth remembering that even thieves have some kindness in their hearts.
