VietNamNet Bridge - JCB International Co., Ltd. (JCBI) has launched its new branding strategy in Vietnam, with the world-famous robot cat Doraemon as the brand character to enhance JCB brand awareness. 

Deputy President of JCBI, KimihisaImada, said that Doraemon is a famous robot cat who comes from the future and is also a symbolic character representing Japanese animation. It is well-known and loved by Vietnamese, regardless of age or gender. 

”Doraemon will match the image that JCB wants to tell customers, which is future-minded, positive-minded, trustworthy, convenient, and coming from Japan. We believe with this popular character, Vietnamese consumers will become more familiar with JCB brand and it will greatly enhance JCB’s brand awareness,” he said.

The new branding strategy also features the promotional message: “Tuong Lai Trong Tam Tay” (Future in Your Hands).  

JCBI started acquiring business in Vietnam in 1991 with Vietcombank. Now JCBI has 10 acquirers and JCB’s acceptance network is over 100,000 merchants. 

JCBI started issuing JCB cards with Vietinbank in October 2011. Now over 250,000 JCB cards have been issued in Vietnam by the six major banks: the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), the Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank), the Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank), the Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint-Stock Bank (Techcombank), and the Asia Commercial Bank (ACB).
