Le Thi Khoi is carrying out her start-up project to produce booksfor children from recycled materials. Khoi’s co-workers are three disabled persons.

This is where all these colourful books and comics come alive. Old cardboard boxes and flyers are turned into intriguing books for children by these hardworking people.

Khoi commented this project was her passion. Moreover, it could create a stable and suitable job for disabled people, a half of whom could work but could hardly seek suitable jobs. Her project created an opportunity for them to integrate and interact with society.

Most of the books are Khoi’s creations, from the ideas down to the design. Her team is responsible for drawing, designing illustrations and other processes. Each book serves as a reminder of environmental impact and carries messages for future generations.

This project mainly focuses on children aged from two to 10. Khoi’s project seeks to raise awareness on reducing total waste, educate younger generations on environmental protection and create jobs for disadvantaged people.

Pham Van Toan, member of Nghe An province Youth Union said the youth union has helped Khoi in carrying out the project, including helping her to take a loan of 50 million VND with favourable interest rate.

Under Khoi’s plan, she and her team will produce 20 book titles with the amount reaching 1,000 in a year. She also plans to call for support from organisations and individuals to throw a showcase, featuring her books targeting younger generation./. VNA
