At the upcoming 2024 Vietnam International Defense Exhibition in Hanoi, Russia will debut its advanced Rubezh-ME coastal missile system to an international audience for the first time.
The exhibition, set to open next week at Gia Lam Airport, will feature a wide range of military equipment and weaponry from leading defense companies worldwide, including the United States, Russia, Israel, France, and Japan.
According to Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, the Rubezh-ME system is capable of deploying modern anti-ship cruise missiles, delivering substantial firepower. Operated by just two personnel, it boasts a compact design, high mobility, and advanced capabilities to evade
Key features of the Rubezh-ME include: A firing range of 260 km; Target detection ranges of up to 100 km using active radar and 450 km using passive radar; A design that integrates its targeting and combat systems on a single mobile platform, earning it the nickname “missile ship on wheels.”
A single Rubezh-ME battery, consisting of eight mobile launchers, can deploy up to 32 anti-ship cruise missiles, enough to neutralize an enemy task force.
Each mobile launcher is equipped with four Kh-35U Uran missiles, which are effective in all-weather conditions, day or night, and can operate even under intense electronic jamming.
The Kh-35U missile has a flight speed of approximately 1,225 km/h and an export version range of 260 km, while domestic versions reach 450–500 km. The missile measures 4.4 meters in length, with a diameter of 42 cm and a wingspan of 1.33 meters.
The Boeing Company will also have a prominent presence at the exhibition, showcasing its cutting-edge defense and security solutions.
Michael Nguyen, Managing Director of Boeing Vietnam, emphasized: “Boeing’s participation in the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition marks a significant step forward in our growing partnership with Vietnam. For the first time, Boeing will introduce a wide range of products that demonstrate our top-tier defense and security capabilities, including humanitarian support solutions.”
Boeing’s exhibit will feature flagship platforms, including:
The CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter, widely used by over 20 countries worldwide for military and humanitarian operations.
The MH-139 Grey Wolf multi-mission helicopter, designed for patrol, search and rescue, VIP transport, troop deployment, and cargo missions.
The Wave Glider unmanned surface vehicle, a long-endurance platform equipped with advanced sensors to provide real-time maritime data.
