The official had been scheduled to arrive on Monday, but the trip was postponed for an undisclosed reason.

The visit will be made at the invitation of Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. 

Vietnam and Russia have enjoyed growing ties in all fields, especially economy. 

Since the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement took effect on October 5, 2016, two-way trade between Vietnam and Russia has grown rapidly, reaching US$3.56 billion in 2017, up 29 per cent from the previous year. 

Russia has to date registered to invest almost $982.9 million in 117 projects in Vietnam, ranking 22nd among countries and territories investing in the Southeast Asian country. 

Meanwhile, Vietnam has invested in18 projects in Russia worth a total $2.4 billion.
