VietNamNet Bridge – The Foreign Ministry on October 26 announced that Russian President Dmitri Medvedev will pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the second ASEAN-Russia Summit on October 30-31.

The visit follows Party Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s visit to Russia in July and President Nguyen Minh Triet’s visit in early May 2010.

 

In August 2010, Vietnam and Russia conducted the third strategic dialogue on comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

 

In early 2010, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Grigorievich Kovtun confirmed the Russian visit to Vietnam this year, which marks the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia relationships.

 

During his time in Vietnam, the Russian President will also participate in the second ASEAN-Russia Summit in Hanoi on October 30.

 

In the meantime, Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend the East Asian Summit (EAS) on the same day as the Chair of ASEAN 2010,Vietnam's special guest, , to prepare for Russia’s official attendance in EAS next year.
