Russian President to visit Vietnam this week

In related news, at a press conference in the afternoon of October 30, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung answered questions about the use of the Cam Ranh port in Khanh Hoa province.

He said that Vietnam had decided to build the port by itself. Vietnam’s plan is to turn Cam Ranh into a general logistical port to serve its navy. However, Vietnam is willing to provide logistical services to naval ships of all countries, including submarines.

The PM said that Vietnam will consider hiring experienced Russian consultants for the project.

Previously, the foreign media reported that Russia wants to resume its military base in Cam Ranh. However, the spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen, Phuong Nga, confirmed that Vietnam’s policy is not to cooperate with other countries to use Cam Ranh for military purposes.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung recently approved the construction plan for the Cam Ranh International Airport to 2020. Accordingly, this airport will be able to host aircrafts A320, A350, B737, B767, B777-200ER by 2020, 5.5 million passengers and 100,000 tons of cargo annually.
