The Chamber of Commerce and Industry from the Russian province of Primorye plans to open its representative office in the central port city of Da Nang in 2015, the chamber’s President Boris Stupnitsky has told “Dien Dan Doanh Nghiep” (Business Forum).
The move aims to support Vietnamese and Russian businesses to implement collaborative projects effectively and grasp new cooperation opportunities from the free trade agreement recently signed between Vietnam and the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU), he said.
He added that the Primorye commercial chamber has waited a long time for investment opportunities in Vietnam. He noted that Russia is strong at manufacturing machines, equipment and science-technology, while Vietnamese products such as garments and textiles, footwear and fruits are favoured in the Russian market.
As such, he said the two countries could further cooperation in trade, science-technology and manufacturing.
He added that the Primorye representative office will create the best conditions for Vietnamese firms to make inroads into Russia and Primorye in particular.
He also confirmed the establishment of a logistics business group between Vietnam and Russia to make seaport trade activities busier.
In the near future, the Primorye and Vietnam Chambers of Commerce and Industry will seek suitable locations to set up goods storage and distribution centres in the respective countries.
Russian experts are preparing a list of investment and cooperation fields with Vietnam, Stupnitsky said, revealing that there will be a lot of significant moves in the bilateral future cooperation.
He expressed his belief in the increasing trade between the two countries, which is expected to top US$10 billion in the coming time.
