VietNamNet Bridge – Russian violinist Sergei Sivolgin swept the audiences into the melody of a Vietnamese-characteristic symphony in the first gala of the “Autumn Melody” concert on August 17 in HCM City, entitled “Symphony Concert”.

As usual, the show began by the symphony “Returning to the homeland” by late composer Nguyen Van Thuong.
After the opening work, violinist Sergei Sivolgin and the symphony orchestra appeared on the stage to play the concerto for violin and orchestra by Nguyen Manh Duy Linh. This was the first time the Russian artist performed in Vietnam, but he showed the harmony with the local orchestra from the first musical notes.
Before the show, conductor Tran Vuong Thach said that this performance would be one of the highlights of the show, because it indicates musical talent is borderless and artists from different countries can have empathy of each others’ culture.
Composer Duy Linh skillfully brings melodies of Vietnamese folk songs, a little Jazz and variation for violin into his symphony. In the part two of the symphony, the audience shuddered by the sound that imitated “hat xam” melody (music by strolling blind musicians), played by Sergei Sivolgin.
Duy Linh said that Sergei Sivolgin performed this work very successfully in Russia and he was satisfied when the Russian friend understood and sympathized with him.
Following Duy Linh’s work, composer Vu Viet Anh introduced his first symphony entitled “Vang Son”, which is an interesting interface between Vietnamese and world music.
The first gala of “Autumn Melody” concert is very successful through introducing to the public two new music works of Vietnam.
The “Autumn Melody” continued on August 18-19, at the HCM City Opera House, No. 7 Lam Son Square, D.1, HCM City, with two topics, “Ballet and Contemporary Dance” and “Opera Music”.
