They previously staged maritime interdiction drills designed to stem the spread of weapons of mass destruction under the U.S.-led anti-proliferation campaign, anti-aircraft defense drills and maritime defensive and offensive exercises.
The joint maneuver mobilized some 7,300 troops, the 97,000-ton aircraft carrier George Washington and about ten navy ships.
