VietNamNet Bridge – A "death pit" has appeared after the torrential rain over the past few days in Ho Chi Minh City.

The pit appeared on October 3.

At about 8 am on October 3, a large pit appeared on the intersection of Phan Van Tri-Nguyen Oanh roads, Ward 10, Go Vap District, attracting hundreds of curious passersby.

As being noted at the scene by VietNamNet’s correspondents, the "pit of death" is more than 4 meters wide and 2 meters deep.

If it is not filled up early, the death pit will endanger vehicles on the road, especially in the dark or when heavy rain obscures the crater.

Barriers are used to separate the road into lanes so that vehicles do not fall into the pit.

Local authorities were present at the site. After inspecting the underground sewer system in this area, the authorities discovered a broken segment.

According to the interpretation of a traffic inspector, after heavy rains, the rotten drain was broken, overflowing sand and soil and causing subsidence.

The incident is being fixed today, October 3, before heavy rains obscures the crater.
