According to the doctor, the boy was hospitalized with dozens of wounds on his face, mainly on the left size. The boy’s mother said that these rough wounds were caused by her family’s dog.
The mother said on the same morning, while waiting for his mother to take him to the kindergarten, the boy used a twig to tease the family’s dog, a Phu Quoc ridgeback.
The dog unexpectedly got mad and attacked the baby. It wrestled the boy to the ground and bit his face.
Hearing the boy’s screams, the mother came to see what happened and saw the horrible scene. After rescuing the boy from the savage dog, the woman took her son to a local hospital for first aid and then to the Pasteur Institute for rabies vaccination. Finally the boy was transferred to the Children’s Hospital 1 for suturing the wounds.

Dr. Nguyen Van Dau said there are up to 19 long and rough wounds on the boy’s face. The worst are a deep wound on his lips and another on the left cheek.
After nearly two hours of surgery, doctors used 200 stitches on the boy’s face.
The boy’s mother said her family had been raising the dog for almost three years. This dog had previously attacked a guest. One year ago the dog was vaccinated against rabies.
Dau said one month earlier, he treated a 4-year-old kid from the southern province of Binh Duong who had also been bitten on the face by a big dog.
The doctor recommended that families with young children not raise or keep dogs.
