Those interested in free concerts of Saigon Classical Music Group should get ready for La Guerre et la Paix (war and peace) show at 7 p.m. on February 27 at the Southern Women’s Museum in HCM City's District 3.

The show will start with Franz Liszt’s Paraphrase de concert sur Ernani, S. 432 by Ho Khanh Van, followed by Isaac Berkovich’s Variations on a theme of Paganini by Doan Tran Thuy Tien and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Romance in F Minor, Op. 5 by Hoang Ngoc Dan Thy.

Piano Sonata in E minor, Op. 7, I. Allegro moderato by Edvard Grieg and Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57, I. Allegro assai by Ludwig van Beethoven are respectively played by Nguyen Dinh Nguyen and Nguyen My Linh. 

The last piece to wrap up the first half of the show is Claude-Michel Schönberg’s “Star” from “Les miserables,” by baritone Vu Minh Tri and piano accompanist Le Hoa Phong Lan.

Pianists Ho Khanh Van, Nguyen Quy Huu Minh and Doan Tran Thuy Tien will respectively perform three pieces: Suites de Pièces, HWV 434 by George Frideric Handel, Piano Sonata No. 13 in B-flat major, K. 333, I. Allegro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Consolation No. 3, S. 172 by Franz Liszt.

Two pieces of Frédéric Chopin -- Fantaisie-impromptu, Op. 66 and Polonaise in A flat major “Heroique”, Op. 53 -- will be performed by Nguyen Dinh Nguyen and Bui Phi Long. 

The last two performances of the show are Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “All I ask of you” from “The phantom of the opera” played by baritone Vu Minh Tri and soprano Nguyen Thi Thanh Nguyen and piano accompanist Le Hoa Phong Lan; and Giuseppe Verdi’s “Pace, pace mio Dio!” from “La forza del destino,” featuring soprano Nguyen Thi Thanh Nguyen and piano accompanist Le Hoa Phong Lan.

The organizer calls for the audience to make a minimum donation of VND50,000 to help maintain their operations.
