Saigon Classical will host a “Recollection” concert featuring pieces by world’s great composers like Bach, Haydn, Brahms and Chopin, and local composers Nguyen Thanh Nhut and Hoang Cuong on September 17 at the HCMC Southern Women’s Museum in District 3.

Artists like pianists La Que Anh, Thien Cat Vu, Dang Tri Dung, and Nguyen Duc Thinh, and violinists Dan Cat Vu and Ngo Phuoc Tan will be joining the show.

The concert will start with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite in G minor, BWV 808 by pianist La Que Anh, followed by Joseph Haydn’s Sonata in F major, Hob.XVI:23 by pianist Dang Tri Dung. The violinist and pianist duo Dan Cat Vu and Thien Cat Vu will play Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 1 before pianist Vu have a solo performance with César Franck’s Prélude, Fugue et Variation, Op. 18. The pianist duo Dang Tri Dung and Nguyen Duc Thinh wrap up the first half of the show by Albert Ketèlbey’s In a Persian Market for piano 4 hands.

The two duos Ngo Phuoc Tan and La Que Anh and Dan Cat Vu and Thien Cat Vu will respectively perform Anh Hung (hero) and Mua Thu Vinh Biet (last autumn) by local composers Nguyen Thanh Nhut and Hoang Cuong.    

The audience can also listen to Aleksandr Scriabin’s Preludes Op. 11 and Frédéric Chopin’s Scherzo No. 1 in B minor, Op. 20 by pianists La Que Anh and Dang Tri Dung. The last two pieces of the show are Johannes Brahms’ Sonata in D minor for Violin & Piano, Op. 108 by the pianist and violinist duo Thien Cat Vu and Dan Cat Vu and Camille Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre for 2 Piano 8 Hands Op. 40 by four pianists: Anh, Vu, Dung and Thinh.

Due to limited seats, spectators are advised to register in advance via info@saigonclassical.vn. The organizer calls for a minimum donation of VND50,000 to help maintain the group’s operations.

The show will take place from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on September 17 at 202 Vo Thi Sau Street, District 3.
