The free entrance Aufschwung (in English: upswing) concert will take place at the Southern Women’s Museum in HCMC’s District 3 at 7 p.m. on Saturday, marking the start of a series of events which the Saigon Classical Music Group will organize this year.

Pianist Ho Khanh Van will kick off the concert by performing Paraphrase De Concert Sur “Ernani” by Giuseppe Verdi/Franz Liszt and Fantasia on Italian Operatic Melodies by Franz Liszt. The show will be followed by Robert Schumann’s Papillons, Op. 2 by pianist Tran Ngoc Nguyen Trinh and Rebecca Clarke’s Sonata per viola e pianoforte: I. Impetuoso - Poco agitato, II. Vivace by viola artist Pham Vu Thien Bao and pianist Tran Ngoc Nguyen Trinh; and George Frideric Handel’s “Ombra mai fu” from “Serse” and Georges Bizet’s “Toreador song” from “Carmen” via performances of baritone Dao Van Mac and pianist Le Hoa Phong Lan.

The second half of the show will feature Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 5, Op. 24, I. Allegro by duo Thach Thai Do Quyen and Le Thi Minh Trang, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, I. Moderato by pianist Thai Ngoc Thuy Trang and piano accompanist Nguyen Duc Thinh. Pianist duo Thach Thai Do Quyen and Le Thi Minh Trang will wrap up the show with Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, Op. 45, II. Andante con moto, III. Lento assai - Allegro vivace.

Due to limited seats, spectators are advised to register at info@saigonclassical.vn as soon as possible. The organizer calls for the audience to make a minimum donation of VND50,000 to help maintain their activities.
