Saigon Heat defeated Westports Malaysia Dragons of Malaysia 91-82 in their fifth match at the ASEAN Basketball League on Saturday in HCM City.

Foreign players continued to be the secret to their success, with Lenny Daniel and Moses Morgan both scoring 22 points, while Viet Arnold bagged 17.

Trieu Han Minh also put in an outstanding performance with 13 points.

It is their second win of the season after five games.

In their first game three weeks ago, Saigon Heat lost 92-100.

In the next fixture, Saigon Heat will face HiTech Bangkok City on December 5.

Lien Viet, Maseco win volley titles

Lien Viet Postbank's women and Maseco HCM City's men won the national volleyball titles on Saturday.

Lien Viet Postbank successfully defended their women's trophy by beating VTV Binh Dien Long An 25-20, 25-22, 27-25 in the final in Khanh Hoa Province.

It is the ninth time Lien Viet Postbank have won the title since the national tournament was first held in 2004.

It was the final game for legend Pham Thi Yen.

Yen who has played volleyball for 16 years and been a key player for club and country for nearly a decade.

Yen will take a coaching training course in Japan before returning to Viet Nam to start her new career.

In the men's event, Maseco HCM City came from behind to defeat Sanest Khanh Hoa 23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 15-9 to win the title for the first time on home soil.

Sanest Khanh Hoa took silver, while the bronze went to Vinh Long.

Hanoian gymnasts grab three golds

Ha Noi dominated the final-match day of the National Gymnastics Championships at the Quan Ngua Sport Palace on Saturday.

Ha Noi's athletes won three gold medals in the men's and women's team all-around events and the men's individual all-around category by Southeast Asian Games champion Pham Phuoc Hung.

Hai Phong took the other title in the women's individual all-around by World Cup winner Phan Thi Ha Thanh.
