the new statue of President Ho Chi Minh.

On November 7, the HCM City authorities approved the project of building the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in the park in front of the HCMC People's Committee on Nguyen Hue Road, District 1.

By design, the monument will be a standing statue, with the height of 6.3 m (including a 1.8 m high base,) made of copper. It is expected that the current monument "Uncle Ho with children" will be moved to the Children's Palace in Thu Thiem New Urban Area (District 2).

The HCM City Architecture Council is assigned to coordinate with other related departments to make surveys of the landscape, green planning, lighting, parks, etc. to prepare for the project. Meanwhile, in November, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism must complete procedures and set up the jury for the monument design competition.

Earlier, in 2004, the Prime Minister approved the planned monument of President Ho Chi Minh to 2010. In 2011, the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee approved the policy to build monuments in HCM City. In July 2011, the HCM City Party Committee agreed with the HCM City People's Committee’s proposal to build the above monument.
