VietNamNet Bridge – The Saigon Zoo, which showcases the collection of rare and famous animals and plants of Vietnam and the world, will be expanded by 1,500 m2.




The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved the expansion of the zoo, which is located at No. 2, Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, District 1, based on the recovery of land that is being used by organizations and individuals inside and outside the zoo.

The Saigon Zoo is considered a historical, cultural and natural museum and a botanical garden of HCM City and the country. It displays collections of rare and famous animals and plants of Vietnam and the world.

Therefore, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City decided to continue maintaining the zoo while the Saigon Safari will be built in Cu Chi district.

The Saigon Safari will cover an area of nearly 487 hectares in An Nhon Tay and Phu My Hung communes in Cu Chi District, about 50 km from the city center.

Saigon Zoo (original name is Botanical Gardens) has an area of 17 hectares. It was built by the French in 1865. It is in the top 10 of the world's oldest zoos.
