VietNamNet Bridge – The atmosphere of Tet holiday has covered Hai Thuong Lan Ong in District 5, the street of Chinese-origin people in HCM City.

Hai Thuong Lan Ong, the street that is specialized in selling decorative items, is a cultural
symbol of Chinese in Saigon.

The street is now “dyed” in red by thousand kinds of decorative items for Tet.

From red envelops…

… to artificial yellow apricot and red peach trees.

Carp, the symbol of luck.

Gold coins and gold bars.

These items have been sold here from the New Year to Tet holiday (around one month).

The street is always crowded during this period.

Hai, a local man, said that decorative items for Tet are not only products for sales but the soul of this
Chinese street. “I’m very proud because this street has been always the most sparkling in Saigon
for the last decades,” Hai said.

The street is more glamorous at night.
