VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City People’s Court on August 21 sentenced Ma Vi Hung, 33, 15 years in prison for producing and trading forbidden goods and spreading pornographic products.

According to the indictment, in May 2009 Hung purchased three disk copying machines to produce hundred thousands of disks of pirated movies and pornographic films to provide to disk sellers in HCM City and neighboring provinces. Hung produced from 400-500 disks a day.

HCM City police searched Hung’s house on September 12, 2009, and seized nearly 26,200 disks, including 5,000 disks or porno films and over 1,000 disks with reactionary contents.

Police also searched the home of Dang Quang Hung, a customer of Ma Vi Hung, and three other agents of Hung and seized nearly 80,000 pirated disks, including ten thousands of disks with porno and reactionary contents.

Ma Vi Hung and Dang Quang Hung both got a 15-year prison sentence for trading forbidden goods, delivering porno products and committing illegal business.

Three other defendants were sentenced from 4 to 7 years in jail for one of the two crimes: producing and trading forbidden goods and trading forbidden goods.

This is among the largest case of piracy in HCM City in recent years.
